EDC Update
October 7, 2019
Dressing for the Weather
Looks like
we are heading back into some cold and snowy weather. Please remember to always dress your child
for the weather. We only have access to
the gym once a week. In order to provide
much needed physical exercise to our EDC students, we will be going outside
even on cold days.
Students
need to have: Warm winter boots, coat,
snow pants, mittens (NOT gloves) and a hat.
Picture Day
Royal Oak
School will be having Picture Day on Thursday, October 10th. EDC will be the first group to have their
individual photos taken. Class pictures
will be taken later in the year.
Please make
sure students arrive on time so we can get through the line quickly.
Photo proof
packages will be sent home about a week or so after photos are taken. They
offer many different packages to suit all budgets. Purchase of photos is completely optional.
Literacy Night
Royal
Oak School Disciplinary Literacy Night
Thursday
October 17th 6pm – 7pm
Students and their families are invited to our Disciplinary
Literacy Night on October 17th from 6 pm - 7 pm. Come see how literacy lives in
the disciplines as your child takes you through hands-on activities in the role
of a scientist, author, illustrator, entomologist, environmental geologist, and
musician. All family members are welcome!
Halloween 2019
Royal Oak School is excited to
invite students to wear their Halloween costumes on October 31, 2019.
Please have students come dressed in
their costumes. If your child requires
a little support with buttons or zippers, EDC staff are happy to support them,
particularly in the washroom.
We ask that costumes do not
include: masks, weapons, accessories, or blood/gore.
Regular learning activities will
continue throughout the day. Students will get the opportunity to share their
costumes with each other by participating in a parade in the halls at 9:30 am.
This year, parents are invited to watch the parade in the gym. Please arrive a few minutes early to find a
seat. The PM EDC class will have their own parade with Kindergarten
classrooms in the afternoon.
In keeping with learning about
healthy eating, please only send a snack for your child as usual.
EDC staff will provide a healthy,
special snack to share.
Remember: Halloween candy and treats are best enjoyed
at home.
Please do not send them to school
as they often present a challenge for other students.
We look forward to seeing all
of your costumes!
