Weekly Learning Plan: April 27 to May 1, 2020
As you know, we have been given guidelines from Alberta Education that mandates we provide 5 hours of schoolwork per week focused on literacy and math. We also hope to offer some optional activities that you might consider having a look at towards the bottom of the template. Each week we also hope that you will be able to determine a schedule that works best for your family. We ask that you please be patient with this process as we all know technology can be a bit bumpy at times.

· It was so nice to see you all on the Video Chat last Wednesday! This week we will do 2 meetings with each class. Please see below for times:

Task One: Circle Time Video
|
Task Description:
· Circle Time Routine plan using visuals
· Hello Song – encourage your child to sing along. Here are the words:

· This week’s story is: Going On a Bear Hunt by Michael Rosen
· This week’s song is: Going On a Bear Hunt – YouTube
This is an action song. Encourage your child to follow the actions and sing along!
Story Follow-up:
· While out on your Bear Hunt, encourage your child to use positional words. Use the topic board visual to help them look on, under, over, around, in, out, etc.
· Many neighbourhoods are participating in a Community Connection program called Going on a Bear Hunt at #randomactsofcommunity
· Take a look at their poster for more information
Observation and Feedback:
· Observe your child as they participate in Circle Time.
· Can they follow the actions? Do they need more time to move from one action to the next? If so, you can pause the video to give them the time they need to be ready

Task Two: Going On a Bear Hunt Game
|
Materials:
· Stuffed animals or toys
· Binoculars (craft instructions below)
Instructions:
· Create a home-made scavenger hunt for your child by hiding a few stuffed animals around the house
· Invite your child to use their binoculars to find their animals that have been hidden around the house
· Take turns hiding and searching for this great cooperative play activity that can include as many members in the family that you like
· You can change the game a bit to Hide and Seek with family members too

Task Three: Making Binoculars
|
EDC has made these binoculars already this year, so they might remember how to put them together. Use the binoculars for a few of the games we are playing, such as I Spy or when going on a neighborhood walk. What can you see?
This Video will show you all the steps.
Materials:
· Toilet paper rolls – 2 per child
· Coloured paper
· Tape and/or glue
· Markers or crayons to colour
· String or yarn
· Extras: stickers,
Instructions:
· Tape or glue 2 toilet paper rolls together
· Decorate the binoculars however you like
· Carefully punch a hole through each side of one end of the toilet paper rolls and lace string through as a strap or just hold the binoculars as you are walking
· CAUTION: supervise children carefully as the string could become a safety hazard.
· Have fun observing nature through your binoculars!

Physical Education - Out Door Scavenger Hunt

Instructions:
Hello from Ms. Stacey:
· Head outside to the back yard or take a walk in your neighbourhood
· Prompt your child with ideas for different physical actions using the idea board below
