Circle Time Video – watch this once a day!

Task Description:
· Circle Time Routine plan using visuals
· Hello Song – encourage your child to sing along. Here are the words:

· This week’s story is: 5 Green and Speckled Frogs
· This week’s song is: Little Green Frog – here are the lyrics (and sheet music) link:
Language Development with Ms. Shauna:
· Encourage your child to act out the songs by doing the actions as you read the story. Create a pond using a blanket or small carpet. Invite them to jump into the pond and swim around
· Use a stuffed toy or puppet to encourage your child to Retell the song on their own
· Make it silly by switching it from a frog to whatever toy you have on hand
o 5 Brown and Fluffy Bears
o 5 Pink and Squishy Bunnies
o 5 Strong and Fast Super Heroes, etc.
o Bark Bark said the little, white Dog one day,
o Moo Moo said the big. brown Cow one day, etc.
· Action words – sitting, standing, jumping, swimming, running, rolling, etc.
· Position words – on, off, in, out, over, under
Observation and Feedback:
· Observe your child as they participate in Circle Time.
· Are they able to act out the story?
· Can they sing along with the story or song?
· Are they able to Retell the story?

Finger Print Painting
· This activity will support the development of the small hand muscles which is important for using school tools such holding a pencil, cutting with scissors, etc.
Materials:
· Spring Finger Print art page (if you have access to a printer)
· Plain paper which you can draw a basic tree branch or pond scene for your child to add creatures such as birds, frogs, insects, flowers, etc.
· Washable paint, water colour paint, stamp pads, broken crayon pieces, stickers
Instructions:
· Watch the video above for detailed instructions
· Encourage your child to use individual fingers when adding finger prints to their paper
· Invite them to decorate and add detail to their pictures using stickers and/or crayons
· Please, if you are able, take a picture of your Spring Finger Print picture to share on the blog

Creative Time
|
Rock Painting
· This is a fun and fast craft. Will you create a lady bug, bee, frog, fish, alien, monster? The ideas are endless. Have Fun!
Materials:
· Small, round rocks about the size of a golf ball
· Craft paint in a few colours
· Small paint brush
· Cup of water for rinsing brush between colours
· Newspaper, tray or plastic bag (to protect your table) – or you can do this activity outside on the sidewalk
· Extras: (optional) Googly eyes, pipe cleaners (for legs or antennae), glue
Instructions:
· Encourage your child to paint the rock in bright colours
· You may need to wait a few minutes to allow the paint to dry before adding a new colour (Tip: have a few rocks so that your child can paint the one while the other is drying)
· Add details to the painted rock to make a creature – add eyes, spots, stripes, etc.

Sidewalk Chalk Obstacle Course
Create an obstacle course using sidewalk chalk. Check out this link to see some easy ideas.
For other ideas – check out the Letter from the FOP Team below
· If you like, you can make your obstacle course into a froggy pond.
o Lilly pads to jump on? Narrow bridges to cross (don’t fall in!).
o Can you jump like a frog?
· If you don’t have sidewalk chalk, here is an easy recipe to make your own:
DIY Sidewalk Chalk Paint
Supplies:
· Cornstarch
· Water
· Measuring Cups
· Mixing bowl
· Food Coloring
· Paint Brushes
· Muffin Tin or Small plastic bowls
Instructions:
1. Add 1 cup of water to 1 cup of cornstarch.
2. Mix until there are no clumps of cornstarch and then pour the mixture into the cups of muffin tin or into small plastic containers.
3. Next add a few drops of food coloring to each cup and mix until blended. (If you don’t have food coloring handy, try mixing in some tempera paint).
