Language Development:
·      Cooking with children is an excellent way to support language development, fine motor skills, independence and life skills.   Sharing in the cooking process may encourage your child to try new foods and experience new textures.
·      Follow simple recipes inviting your child to stir, mix, pour, shake, cut, etc.
·      Cooking is also a great pretend play activity.  You can make believe you are in a restaurant cooking for customers.   Encourage your child to ask for your order, then serve up a tasty treat using pretend food or objects that can represent food such as:
o   A block could be a glass of milk, a banana or hamburger
o   Lego could be French fries, soup or a tea cup
o   A book could be a plate, a steak or a pizza!
·      Pizza Topic Board:

Story Follow-up:
·      Make a Pizza!  Pizza is so fun to make together as a family.  There are so many recipes, so here are just a few that you may enjoy:
o   Simple Pizza recipes for kids
o   Healthy Fruit Pizza
o   Chocolate Cookie Pizza

Observation and Feedback:
·      Observe your child as they participate in Circle Time.

Message from FOP
Welcome to our final week of online Family Oriented Programming!
Please copy & paste the text below into an online translator if needed.
Unfortunately, after many years of supporting our preschool and kindergarten families, Family Oriented Programming has been discontinued.
Over the past twelve years we have seen our program grow and evolve.  It has been our pleasure to watch thousands of children grow and develop and reach many milestones.
We strongly believe you are the first and most important teacher in your child's life!  Your support and involvement in your children's learning are necessary for their success at school and in life.  As a Family Oriented Program team, we were thrilled to be your partners in the beginning of your child's school journey.  Thank you for attending our sessions, and for all your questions and concerns.
A big thank you to all the families and CBE staff, past and present that have supported our program!  We would like to thank you for the opportuity to serve you and your children.  We will cherish the wonderful partnership we have built!
Here are some community suggestions to help your family:
Please email us at fop@cbe.ab.ca if you have any questions or if would like to leave our team any comments or feedback!
Wishing you all the best in your future journey!
Janelle, Fatima, and Natasha
