Last Week of School

Opening Comments
·      Congratulations!  We made it to the end of the most unexpected and, often challenging, school year.   This is the last week of school.
·      We want to take this opportunity to express our deep appreciation for the tremendous support from our families and students over the last three months of ongoing learning.  We are so grateful for your commitment and perseverance as we worked through how to best support our wonderful little learners.  We could not have done it without you! 

Google Meets Online Circle Time Schedule
Monday, June 22:   Summer Fun!   Wear your Beach Clothes!
 Morning Class @ 10:30 am   Afternoon Class @ 2:30 pm

Tuesday, June 23:  Small Circle time for select students

Wednesday, June 24:   EDC Year End Wrap UP Gathering!    Please join us for a virtual good-bye party where we will have a chance to say farewell to all our wonderful students and families.

PERSONAL BELONGINGS PICK UP:  Book your appointment online or by emailing alklassen@cbe.ab.ca or by phoning the school office at 403-777-6279.  System closes Tuesday, June 23 @8:00 am.

Each child has a bag of personal belongings, IPP and a small gift from the EDC staff!

Story Time with Ms. Betty – Summer

Circle Time Video – watch this once a day!
Task Description:
·      Circle Time Routine plan using visuals
·      Hello Song – encourage your child to sing along.   Here are the words:
       Hi, Hi Hello!   Hi, Hi Hello!
       It’s time for circle!
       Hi, Hi Hello!   Hi, Hi Hello!
       It’s time for circle now.
       Hello (Child’s name)
       Hello (Child’s name)

·      This week’s story is:   The Napping House  by Audrey Wood

Story Follow-up:
·      Act out the story through play!   Use the pictures from the link above to make each character in the book
·      Tape the picture to blocks, disposable cups or Lego to make a tower
·      Retell the story as your child builds a tower as seen in the photo


Observation and Feedback:
·      Observe your child as they participate in Circle Time.
·      If you are able, take a picture of your child participating in the activity and email it to Ms. Angela – alklassen@cbe.ab.ca

Fine Motor with Ms. Jill  


Shape House – use basic shapes to make (or draw) a simple house.

Materials:
·      Template – print off or draw your own shapes
·      Paper – various colours
·      Scissors
·      Markers
·      Glue
·      Extras – buttons, pipe cleaners, popsicle sticks, stickers, etc.
Instructions:
·      Use the template (included in the link above) – either print or draw your own
·      Follow the directions in the link to help your child create their own little house picture using shapes
·      Add some style to your house using the extras – buttons for windows, pipe cleaner clouds, popsicle stick trees, etc.  Let your imagination run wild!

Creative Time
Summer Time Fun!     Here are some great ideas for creative fun this summer:

·      Paper Bag Kite


Gross Motor with Ms. Stacey
Simon Says – this is a fun game to support physical activity and listening skills

Materials:
·      Large clear area where you can move safely
